How to install it

What to send to the palmtop saves 679.2 KB

These are the files you need. You can send them from the package contents below.

  • GEOS.INI → A:\_DAT configuración 752 B
  • KERNEL.EXE → A:\SOFT programa de DOS 71.0 KB
  • AOL.BAT → A:\SOFT programa de DOS 39 B
  • PCGAME.EXE → A:\SOFT programa de DOS 4.0 KB
  • FINDIT.EXE → A:\SOFT programa de DOS 3.8 KB
  • CLRPORT1.COM → A:\SOFT programa de DOS 47 B
  • CLRPORT2.COM → A:\SOFT programa de DOS 47 B
  • DEFAULT.INI → A:\_DAT configuración 603 B
  • BERKELEY.FNT → A:\SOFT fuente de pantalla 25.8 KB
  • PR_10CPI.FNT → A:\SOFT fuente de pantalla 4.3 KB
  • UNIVERSI.FNT → A:\SOFT fuente de pantalla 33.1 KB
  • BISON.FNT → A:\SOFT fuente de pantalla 15.7 KB

No need to put GEOS.STR, CGA.GEO, CLIPBOAR.000, DBASE.GEO, DISK.GEO, DOS2.GEO, DOS3.GEO, DOS4.GEO and 23 more: they are manuals, source code or supporting material. Read them here and save 679.2 KB on a 1 MB disk.

Steps
  1. Copy KERNEL.EXE, AOL.BAT, PCGAME.EXE, FINDIT.EXE to A:\SOFT. They are DOS programs: run them from the DOS icon, or add A:\SOFT to the PATH in C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT to call them by name.
  2. Copy GEOS.INI, DEFAULT.INI to A:\_DAT, where the 200LX looks for configuration. Open it with Memo and adjust it before use.
  3. If you edit a configuration file on the palmtop, make sure you leave a newline at the end: some programs swallow the last line without saying a word.

Derived from the package contents and the 200LX conventions. It installs to A: on purpose: C: is a RAM disk and every byte there is memory taken from the system.

The author's instructions
If installing from a Mac, you must first create an AOL Directory in Filer on
your A: drive. Simply move the cursor to the A: drive, and hit Menu F T and
type the directory name. The directories you must create are:

The palmtop must be waiting before you press the button, or the transfer will fail. It is the palmtop that announces it is ready, not the other way round.
