How to install it
What to send to the palmtop saves 6.1 KB
These are the files you need. You can send them from the package contents below.
-
FILEFIND.EXM→ A:\SOFT aplicación del System Manager 7.3 KB -
FILEFIND.ENV→ A:\_DAT configuración 144 B -
FILEFIND.ICN→ A:\SOFT icono, junto a su aplicación 200 B
No need to put
FILEFIND.DOC:
they are manuals, source code or supporting material. Read them here and save 6.1 KB on a 1 MB disk.
Steps
- Copy FILEFIND.EXM to A:\SOFT. It is a System Manager application: register it in App Manager with F2 (Add), giving the full path (for example A:\SOFT\FILEFIND.EXM).
- The 200LX takes 8 EXM applications at most. Check with F8 (List) in App Manager: an asterisk in the Status column means the quota is full and you will need MoreEXM.
- Copy FILEFIND.ENV to A:\_DAT, where the 200LX looks for configuration. Open it with Memo and adjust it before use.
- If you edit a configuration file on the palmtop, make sure you leave a newline at the end: some programs swallow the last line without saying a word.
- The .ICN files are icons: they go in the same folder as their application.
Derived from the package contents and the 200LX conventions. It installs to A: on purpose: C: is a RAM disk and every byte there is memory taken from the system.
The author's instructions
INSTALLATION
An EXM Program cannot be run directly from the command line,
but has to be installed into system manager and started via
hotkey. I suggest {Alt-F4}, 0x6b00 for the hotkey.
See the section on installing progams in the HPLX manual for
details.
HP system manager leaves only 4 slots free for user-installed
EXM programs. Use of MOREEXM is recommended.
Copy the supplied FILEFIND.ENV file to C:\_DAT\ or follow
the instructions in the next section.
SETTING THE PROGRAM OPTIONS
Pressing {F2} will bring up the options dialog.
* Setting the view/goto/exec actions:
The three groupboxes contain one edit field and two/three radio
buttons each. Use {Tab} to jump to the next groupbox, cursor
{Up} and {Down} to jump to the next control within a groupbox.
* With the "Keys" button selected, the text in the edit field
will be stuffed into the keyboard buffer. Special keys may be
entered using the syntax of the macro editor. Moreover,
hex scancodes can be entered like {x0000}.
To make the Filer application display the selected file, you
might enter "{Copy}{Filer}{Menu}og{Paste}{Enter}".
* With the "DOS Cmd" button selected, a DOS box will be opened
(if possible) and the text in the edit field will be passed to
the command interpreter. The $ character will be replaced with
the selected file path and name.
To edit a file with PalEdit, you might enter "C:\BIN\PE $".
* With the "X-Finder" button selected, the appropriate
action will be taken calling X-Finder, the text in the edit
field will be ignored. Be sure you have set up the X-Finder Key
(see below) properly.
* Setting the available drives:
The string of drive letters in the "DrvList" field specifies
which drives will be searched by pressing {F5}. The first
letter entered will be the default drive on startup.

Send to my palmtop
The palmtop must be waiting before you press the button, or the transfer will fail. It is the palmtop that announces it is ready, not the other way round.
Your browser cannot talk to the serial port. Direct sending uses the Web Serial API, which only exists in Chrome, Edge and Opera on desktop — not in Firefox, Safari or any mobile browser.
Download the file with the button above and copy it to the palmtop your usual way.
