How to install it

What to send to the palmtop saves 8.2 KB

These are the files you need. You can send them from the package contents below.

  • DOCREAD.EXE → A:\SOFT programa de DOS 50.0 KB
  • DOCREAD.CFG → A:\_DAT configuración 1.1 KB

No need to put README.TXT, TODO: they are manuals, source code or supporting material. Read them here and save 8.2 KB on a 1 MB disk.

Steps
  1. Copy DOCREAD.EXE to A:\SOFT. They are DOS programs: run them from the DOS icon, or add A:\SOFT to the PATH in C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT to call them by name.
  2. Copy DOCREAD.CFG to A:\_DAT, where the 200LX looks for configuration. Open it with Memo and adjust it before use.
  3. If you edit a configuration file on the palmtop, make sure you leave a newline at the end: some programs swallow the last line without saying a word.

Derived from the package contents and the 200LX conventions. It installs to A: on purpose: C: is a RAM disk and every byte there is memory taken from the system.

The author's instructions
INSTALLATION

Install the program (docread.exe) in any location you like (preferably
in some directory on your path). Copy the config file (docread.cfg) to
that same directory. You may want to change some settings in the
config file.

If you want to rename this program go ahead, just remember to rename
the config file too!

If you are upgrading from version 0.2 it might be wise to remove .env
and .dpg files first. (This version should be able to detect old
versions of these files but...)

USAGE

Run this program from dos-box:
docread [<filename.prc>]

If filename is left out LxDocRead will try to load a previous text. If
there is none, it will open a dialog to choose a file.

You can also execute it from filer if you have associated .prc with
this program (filer.ini/Buddy).

Send to my palmtop

The palmtop must be waiting before you press the button, or the transfer will fail. It is the palmtop that announces it is ready, not the other way round.
