How to install it

What to send to the palmtop saves 3.1 KB

These are the files you need. You can send them from the package contents below.

  • BACKLITE.COM → A:\SOFT programa de DOS 1.3 KB

No need to put BACKLITE.DOC: they are manuals, source code or supporting material. Read them here and save 3.1 KB on a 1 MB disk.

Steps
  1. Copy BACKLITE.COM to A:\SOFT. They are DOS programs: run them from the DOS icon, or add A:\SOFT to the PATH in C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT to call them by name.

Derived from the package contents and the 200LX conventions. It installs to A: on purpose: C: is a RAM disk and every byte there is memory taken from the system.

                      HOW TO USE BACKLITE

The main purpose of BACKLITE is to enable you to control the
backlight of your palmtop by software. This is done through
pin 48 of the CPU, where the backlight receives its power from.

Just call BACKLITE from the command line without any switches
to see the Help/Status screen. It informs you about the actual
status of the backlight.

Add the line BACKLITE/L to your AUTOEXEC.BAT in order to load
the driver resident. Then use the hotkey Fn-X to toggle the
backlight on and off.

BACKLITE may be used in resident, non-resident and mixed mode.
The switches /F and /N work in resident and non-resident mode
and are useful to control the backlight from batch files or the
command line.

All other switches only affect the resident loaded driver.

                      COMMAND LINE SWITCHES

Resident and non-resident mode:

     /F = Switch backlight off
     /N = Switch backlight on

Resident mode only:

     /L = Load Resident
     /U = Unload Resident
     /B = Battery low check
     /S = Sound Toggle
/0-9 = Timeout in minutes (0 = no timeout set)

Examples:

BACKLITE/L3 :Load resident with a timeout of 3 minutes
BACKLITE/0 :Disable the timeout for the resident loaded driver
BACKLITE/S :Disable the hotkey sound
BACKLITE/F :Switch off the light

Send to my palmtop

The palmtop must be waiting before you press the button, or the transfer will fail. It is the palmtop that announces it is ready, not the other way round.
