How to install it

What to send to the palmtop saves 52.7 KB

These are the files you need. You can send them from the package contents below.

  • RECONCYL.EXE → A:\SOFT programa de DOS 113.8 KB
  • RECONCYL.CFG → A:\_DAT configuración 448 B
  • B&W.CFG → A:\_DAT configuración 362 B
  • COLOR.CFG → A:\_DAT configuración 362 B

No need to put RECONCYL.DOC, READ_ME.TXT, REGISTER.TXT: they are manuals, source code or supporting material. Read them here and save 52.7 KB on a 1 MB disk.

Steps
  1. Copy RECONCYL.EXE to A:\SOFT. They are DOS programs: run them from the DOS icon, or add A:\SOFT to the PATH in C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT to call them by name.
  2. Copy RECONCYL.CFG, B&W.CFG, COLOR.CFG to A:\_DAT, where the 200LX looks for configuration. Open it with Memo and adjust it before use.
  3. If you edit a configuration file on the palmtop, make sure you leave a newline at the end: some programs swallow the last line without saying a word.

Derived from the package contents and the 200LX conventions. It installs to A: on purpose: C: is a RAM disk and every byte there is memory taken from the system.

The author's instructions
Installing RECONCYL

Setting up RECONCYL is fairly easy. The file RECONCYL.ZIP (or
RECONCYL.ARC, on some BBSes), is an archive file which contains several
files, including this one. Use the appropriate utility to extract them.

The other files you will find important include:

RECONCYL.EXE The program itself. It reads the files below.

RECONCYL.CFG The saved configuration file. This is a text file
which may be edited. It is described later in more
                        detail.

        RECONCYL.DOC This documentation.

READ_ME.RYL A change history log. All new features and revisions
will be documented by release level identifier.

REGISTER.RYL A registration form you can print and send to us
                        (hint, hint).

RECONCYL can find the location of the .CFG file through the use of an
MS-DOS variable called, curiously enough, RECONCYL. Therefore, if you
set this variable using the following command:

	C:> SET RECONCYL=C:\BIN

RECONCYL will look in the C:\BIN directory for the configuration (.CFG)
file. Using this method you can choose any location for this file.

Otherwise, RECONCYL will look for them in your current search PATH. If the
files are not found in the search PATH, RECONCYL will finally look in the
same directory where RECONCYL.EXE file is located.

   WARNING MESSAGE - CONFIGURATION FILE

A warning message may appear about the configuration file not being the
correct version. Simply press any key to continue; RECONCYL is telling
you that some changes have occurred to the options file layout. Your
previous option settings will be carried forward and any new options
…

Send to my palmtop

The palmtop must be waiting before you press the button, or the transfer will fail. It is the palmtop that announces it is ready, not the other way round.
