How to install it
What to send to the palmtop saves 192.7 KB
These are the files you need. You can send them from the package contents below.
-
MANUAL.EXE→ A:\SOFT programa de DOS 49.4 KB -
NUMBERS.EXE→ A:\SOFT programa de DOS 62.6 KB
No need to put
LFACTOR.OBJ, CMPRE.OBJ, LADD.OBJ, LCOPRIME.OBJ, LDIV.OBJ, READ.ME, LGCD.OBJ, LLCM.OBJ and 13 more:
they are manuals, source code or supporting material. Read them here and save 192.7 KB on a 1 MB disk.
Steps
- Copy MANUAL.EXE, NUMBERS.EXE to A:\SOFT. They are DOS programs: run them from the DOS icon, or add A:\SOFT to the PATH in C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT to call them by name.
Derived from the package contents and the 200LX conventions. It installs to A: on purpose: C: is a RAM disk and every byte there is memory taken from the system.
The author's instructions
To install the calculator, just copy the files NUMBERS.EXE and
NUMBERS.HLP to the drive and directory in which you want the pro-
gram to reside. No other files are needed to use the calculator.
1.4 Start the Calculator
Start the calculator by typing NUMBERS <RET>. There are two com-
mand line parameters:
1. /bw sets the screen to monochrome mode.
This option should be used when a monochrome monitor is
connected to a color graphics card.
2. /n prevents the help screens to be loaded.
Upon first start up, the system acts on certain default values
for number of primes generated, number of seeds for compositeness
test, etc. All these values can be changed from within the pro-
gram. You can save your default values in a file NUMBERS.CFG,
which the system will use on the next start-up.
1.5 Operation
The system uses a 80 x 25 text window. 23 lines are used as work-
ing area; line 24 is kept blank, and line 25 functions as message
area.
The system is menu driven, and few instructions are needed for
operation. After initialization, you are asked to press <RETURN>
for the main menu. This menu, as all others, displays two header
lines, a menu title, and several numbered lines of options. The
screen also shows instructions as to how to proceed. Selection is
done by either pressing the option number, or using the arrow
keys to move a lighted bar to the desired line and then pressing
<RETURN>.

Send to my palmtop
The palmtop must be waiting before you press the button, or the transfer will fail. It is the palmtop that announces it is ready, not the other way round.
Your browser cannot talk to the serial port. Direct sending uses the Web Serial API, which only exists in Chrome, Edge and Opera on desktop — not in Firefox, Safari or any mobile browser.
Download the file with the button above and copy it to the palmtop your usual way.
