How to install it
What to send to the palmtop saves 17.5 KB
These are the files you need. You can send them from the package contents below.
-
CURRUPDT.WK1→ A:\HOJAS hoja de Lotus 1-2-3 3.3 KB
No need to put
CURRUPDT.MAC, CURR.TXT, README.DOC:
they are manuals, source code or supporting material. Read them here and save 17.5 KB on a 1 MB disk.
Steps
- The .WK1 worksheets are not installed: open them from Lotus 1-2-3 with Menu → File → Retrieve.
Derived from the package contents and the 200LX conventions. It installs to A: on purpose: C: is a RAM disk and every byte there is memory taken from the system.
The author's instructions
Installation: Copy the 2 files CURRUPDT.WK1 and CURR.TXT to your default Lotus directory (C:\_DAT if you haven't changed it). As this macro uses Lotus 123, make sure that no other spreadsheet is loaded in Lotus at this time. Copy the file CURRUPDT.MAC to your default macro directory (C:\_DAT if you haven't changed it). From SYSMANAGER type CTRL-M to open the System Macro application. Load the CURRUPDT.MAC macro file (Menu File Open). Execute the first macro (FN+F1). You should allow for about 2.5 minutes for the whole macro to execute. It has to copy back and forth between HpCalc and Lotus a total of 42 times so do not worry about the screen blinking in an apparently endless loop. After 5 minutes, yes, you should start to worry ;-) Please note that you should execute this first macro only once, you can clear it thereafter. All future uses will only require the execution of the second macro (FN+F2) !!! Please see Customisation paragraph below. Go to the HPCalc application and enjoy. Customisation: In the HPCalc, you can replace any of the pre-set currencies with your preferred one, simply by changing its name (Calc,F2,F2). Just ensure that the first 3 characters of the currency name corresponds to the 3 letter ISO code (you can look it up in the CURR.TXT file). You can append to the first 3 characters whatever meaningfull description you want e.g. "JPY Japan Yen" up to a total of 14 characters which is the limit of names length in HPCalc. You can then press FN+F2 (not FN+F1) to have all exchange rates updated again and corresponding to the new currency names you have chosen. If an exchange rate corresponding to a currency appears as zero or blank it means that its ISO code was not recognized by the macro. It was either not …
