Description

Cliplay is a playback program for sound data, to be used in combination with the Database, with the same style as MAPPOT does for graphic data. It directly plays sound data copied to the clipboard, or indirectly from a file specified in the clipboard. Originally part of the software collection sold with the "HP200LX Software Bible" co-authored by Hiroyuki Sekiya and Hirotaka Hamada, published by Softbank, Tokyo, in April 1996 (ISBN4-89052-911-X). Now released as copyrighted freeware.

How to install it

What to send to the palmtop saves 12.8 KB

These are the files you need. You can send them from the package contents below.

  • CLIPLAY.EXM → A:\SOFT aplicación del System Manager 2.4 KB
  • CB2SND.EXM → A:\SOFT aplicación del System Manager 1.3 KB

No need to put CLIPLAY.TXT, SOURCE.LZH, CLIPLAY.JPN: they are manuals, source code or supporting material. Read them here and save 12.8 KB on a 1 MB disk.

Steps
  1. Copy CLIPLAY.EXM, CB2SND.EXM to A:\SOFT. It is a System Manager application: register it in App Manager with F2 (Add), giving the full path (for example A:\SOFT\CLIPLAY.EXM).
  2. The 200LX takes 8 EXM applications at most. Check with F8 (List) in App Manager: an asterisk in the Status column means the quota is full and you will need MoreEXM.

Derived from the package contents and the 200LX conventions. It installs to A: on purpose: C: is a RAM disk and every byte there is memory taken from the system.

The author's instructions
[3] Installation

Add this program to AppManager or MoreEXM. You can use any
start key. My recommendation is [Alt]+(any numeric key), not
used by other applications. Let us assume that [Alt]+[8] is
  assigned.

Cliplay displays a music note in the center of the screen to
indicate that the sound playback is on. Since a blank
background in this case is not very attractive, you may want
to activate 'suppress clear-screen' option of MoreEXM. Add
  the following line to MOREEXM.INI:
      a:\bin\cliplay.exm,7F00,1,Cliplay
where '7F00' is a key code for [ALT]+[8] as its start key and
  '1' is 'suppress clear-screen' option.

Literal excerpt from CLIPLAY.TXT, exactly as it came in the package.

Send to my palmtop

The palmtop must be waiting before you press the button, or the transfer will fail. It is the palmtop that announces it is ready, not the other way round.
