How to install it

What to send to the palmtop saves 38.3 KB

These are the files you need. You can send them from the package contents below.

  • LXMUSIC.EXE → A:\SOFT programa de DOS 48.8 KB
  • LXMUSIC.ICN → A:\SOFT icono, junto a su aplicación 200 B

No need to put BACH1.M, BOCCHERI.M, CGA.BGI, CLEF.TXT, HARDHEAD.M, HDANCE5.M, MOZART1.M, MYMUSIC.M and 2 more: they are manuals, source code or supporting material. Read them here and save 38.3 KB on a 1 MB disk.

Steps
  1. Copy LXMUSIC.EXE to A:\SOFT. They are DOS programs: run them from the DOS icon, or add A:\SOFT to the PATH in C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT to call them by name.
  2. The .ICN files are icons: they go in the same folder as their application.

Derived from the package contents and the 200LX conventions. It installs to A: on purpose: C: is a RAM disk and every byte there is memory taken from the system.

The author's instructions
III. Installation

     A. Copy the required files:

      	LXMusic.exe (main program)
      	CGA.bgu (graphics driver support)
      	clef.txt (data for drawing clefs)

to a directory of your choice and then run
        LXMusic.exe.

The additional files may also be copied. These are:

lxmusic.icn (an icon for LXMusic which can be
used when LXMusic is added to
                         the System/Application Manager)
usrguide.doc	(this file you are reading right
      			 now)

and all the .m music sample files.

     B. An example of the process of installation:
Assuming you want to install LXMusic on your C: drive
into a directory called LXMusic then this a possible
        way of doing so:

        1. Create the directory LXMusic on your C: drive.

There are two ways to do that. One is using the HP
Filer from the System Manager and the other is to
use DOS. I will demonstrate how to use DOS to
           create the directory.

           a. Go to a DOS prompt from your System Manager
           b. Type: C:
           c. Type: md LXMusic

        2. Copy the files mentioned above to this directory.

Assuming you have the files on the A: drive and
they are in the directory "temp" (i.e. a:\temp)

           a. Type: copy a:\temp\lxmusic.exe c:\lxmusic
           b. Type: copy a:\temp\cga.bgi c:\lxmusic
           c. Type: copy a:\temp\clef.txt c:\lxmusic

The rest of the files can be copied in the same
           way.

        3. To copy the .m (i.e. music files) in one shot
           type:
                    copy a:\temp\*.m c:\lxmusic
