Description

XSET allows you to put anything you want in a variable of the current DOS environment and use it. Includes string manipulation, calculation. You can program incremental loops, input a calculation string and output the resulting number. Similar to LXBatch 3.0 but for DOS only. Shareware.

How to install it

What to send to the palmtop saves 80.2 KB

These are the files you need. You can send them from the package contents below.

  • XSET.EXE → A:\SOFT programa de DOS 95.3 KB
  • DEMO.BAT → A:\SOFT programa de DOS 12.2 KB
  • EASY.BAT → A:\SOFT programa de DOS 7.5 KB
  • ENVEDIT.BAT → A:\SOFT programa de DOS 519 B
  • README.BAT → A:\SOFT programa de DOS 1.3 KB
  • ERRLEVEL.EXE → A:\SOFT programa de DOS 11.4 KB

No need to put PATCHDOS.TXT, WHATSNEW.TXT, XSET32.CMD, FILE_ID.DIZ, CONTENTS.TXT, XSET.TXT: they are manuals, source code or supporting material. Read them here and save 80.2 KB on a 1 MB disk.

Steps
  1. Copy XSET.EXE, DEMO.BAT, EASY.BAT, ENVEDIT.BAT to A:\SOFT. They are DOS programs: run them from the DOS icon, or add A:\SOFT to the PATH in C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT to call them by name.

Derived from the package contents and the 200LX conventions. It installs to A: on purpose: C: is a RAM disk and every byte there is memory taken from the system.

Send to my palmtop

The palmtop must be waiting before you press the button, or the transfer will fail. It is the palmtop that announces it is ready, not the other way round.
