How To Make An EVA by Jens Siffring

And for all who want to make their own movies:

It's simple.

Use the A2E (AVI2EVA) program from R. Ichiro (available on super).
The instruction are really simple and all you have to do is to RTFM !

Ok.

1) First of all you need an AVI file in the following format:

 Codec all frames (no compression)
 bit/pixel 8 bit/pixel (256 pallett)
 size 96 x 92
 sound mono 8bit PCM

2) In case you have an MOV file:

 Use SMARTVID.EXE to convert it to an AVI file
 Get SMARTVID from the anonymous ftp at INTEL.

(Hp200lx.Net Note: I could not locate this file at INTEL...)

3) In case you have an AVI file which doesn't meet the requirements
 described under 1)

 Get Video for Windows 1.1 from the MicroSoft ftp server (V1.1)
 and use the included VIDEDIT program.

 Here you can change the compression, bit/pixel, size and sound.

4) as you now have the AVI file described in 1) use A2E to convert it
 The various options of A2E are described in the man-page.

 Easiest example: A2E MYVID.AVI MYVID.EVA

 converts the specified AVI file to EVA format

 Example 2: A2E -g -8 MYVID.AVI MYVID.EVA

 same as above, just uses error-diffussion algorith to improve
 grayscale output (result in slightly larger EVA file) (-g),
 (-8) uses full 8 bit audio format (also slightly increased file
 size).

 Other options:

 -d dithered (2x2 ordered)
 -f force overwite (previous out file)
 -t tome definition (experts - refer to manual page)
 -Txx,yy tone definition (see above, in conjuction)
 -s defines start frame
 -e defines end frame
 -aN audiovolume
 -AN reduce audio sampling rate
