Version 5.0 · TheSoft Prog. Services

Download 211.0 KB

Description

TheDraw is an update to a version of this program distributed on the HP Palmtop Paper on Disk. It is the premiere drawing program for text based graphics: the kind that used to appear on electronic bulletin boards. It's fun to play with and looks decent on the Palmtop. Shareware.

How to install it

What to send to the palmtop saves 346.9 KB

These are the files you need. You can send them from the package contents below.

  • MAKEQLB.BAT → A:\SOFT programa de DOS 2.1 KB
  • PRINTDOC.EXE → A:\SOFT programa de DOS 6.2 KB
  • SETUP.EXE → A:\SOFT programa de DOS 47.9 KB
  • THEDRAW.EXE → A:\SOFT programa de DOS 112.4 KB

No need to put DEMO.TD, MAILER, QB4UTIL.BI, QB4UTIL.LIB, READ.ME, SHUTTLE2.ANS, THEDRAW.DOC, UNCRUNCH.ASM and 7 more: they are manuals, source code or supporting material. Read them here and save 346.9 KB on a 1 MB disk.

Steps
  1. Copy MAKEQLB.BAT, PRINTDOC.EXE, SETUP.EXE, THEDRAW.EXE to A:\SOFT. They are DOS programs: run them from the DOS icon, or add A:\SOFT to the PATH in C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT to call them by name.

Derived from the package contents and the 200LX conventions. It installs to A: on purpose: C: is a RAM disk and every byte there is memory taken from the system.

The author's instructions
The SETUP utility will work as always afterwards. You must specify the name
of the EXE file to "setup", before the fix takes place. After entering the
filespec, SETUP will show the current state of the keyboard driver. You
are prompted to change the setting. Answer "Y" to toggle the driver off.
Enter "N" to continue as normal to the edit display. Exit SETUP and reply
"Y" to the "Save Changes" prompt.

Once the driver is turned off, the special keyboard driver within TheDraw is
completely deactivated. This should make TheDraw operate properly, although
you may lose usage of CTRL-UP/DOWN and ALT-LEFT/RIGHT keystrokes. If problems
persist, please write describing the problem and include a listing of your
hardware. Mentioning how far TheDraw progressed before locking will be very
helpful. ie: Did the Setup utility appear to work properly? Did the TheDraw
title screen appear? If so, were you able to press a key for the edit menu?
Thanks!

Additional note for Tandy users: There appears to be an incompatibility
between Tandy MsDos 2.11 and TheDraw v3.20 and above. Upgrading to
Tandy MsDos 3.20 corrects the problem. Symptom is the computer simply
hangs when attempting to run TheDraw, even with keyboard driver disabled.

TheDraw is distributed with the utility program PRINTDOC. PRINTDOC.EXE is a
program to print the documentation for TheDraw. Some people using Epson or
similar printers find the IBM extended characters appearing throughout the
documentation cause problems. PRINTDOC can optionally filter these characters,
can start printing from any page (in case disaster befalls you on page 72),
and new with v5.00 print on both sides of the paper. Enjoy!

Send to my palmtop

The palmtop must be waiting before you press the button, or the transfer will fail. It is the palmtop that announces it is ready, not the other way round.
