DOS Rogue Clone

Version 2.0.1 · Michael Lehotay

Download 64.7 KB

Description

Author's homepage: http://post.queensu.ca/~lehotay/yendor.html. This is an excellent DOS port of the Rogue, similar in gameplay to the Jon Lane verison that's been on SUPER for years, but with the fell of the Unix Rogue versions. Derived from Tim Stoehr's Rogue 5.3 clone version III and uses the same character graphics as the Unix Rogue.

How to install it

What to send to the palmtop saves 38.1 KB

These are the files you need. You can send them from the package contents below.

  • ROGUE.EXE → A:\SOFT programa de DOS 76.0 KB

No need to put ROGUE.ICO, CLONE.TXT, CHANGES.TXT, GUIDE.TXT, LICENSE.TXT, README.TXT, ROGUE.TXT: they are manuals, source code or supporting material. Read them here and save 38.1 KB on a 1 MB disk.

Steps
  1. Copy ROGUE.EXE to A:\SOFT. They are DOS programs: run them from the DOS icon, or add A:\SOFT to the PATH in C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT to call them by name.

Derived from the package contents and the 200LX conventions. It installs to A: on purpose: C: is a RAM disk and every byte there is memory taken from the system.

The author's instructions
Installation for Windows Users

Use a program such as WinZip or pkunzip to extract all the files from the zip
archive to any folder you like. "C:\Program Files\Rogue" is a good choice. You
may find it convenient to place a shortcut to Rogue.exe on your desktop or in
your Start Menu. If you don't know how to do this, you can look it up in
Windows Help by choosing Help from the Start Menu and looking for "shortcuts"
and "start menu" in the index. You should put "C:\Program Files\Rogue" (or the
folder where you put Rogue.exe) in the "Start in" or "Working" field of your
shortcut.

Start Rogue Clone by selecting your shortcut from the Start Menu, double
clicking on your shortcut on the desktop, or double clicking on Rogue.exe.

Windows 3.1 uses the phrase "program items" instead of shortcuts. If you need
help installing Rogue Clone under Windows 3.1, search for "creating program
items" in Program Manager Help.

Uninstallation for Windows Users

To uninstall Rogue Clone, delete "C:\Program Files\Rogue" (or whatever folder
you created during installation) and any shortcuts you created. If you need
help with this, look up "deleting files" in Windows Help.

Windows 3.1 users should search for "deleting directories" in File Manager Help
and "deleting program items" in Program Manager Help.

Literal excerpt from README.TXT, exactly as it came in the package.

Send to my palmtop

The palmtop must be waiting before you press the button, or the transfer will fail. It is the palmtop that announces it is ready, not the other way round.
