How to install it

What to send to the palmtop saves 6.8 KB

These are the files you need. You can send them from the package contents below.

  • rbs.exe → A:\SOFT programa de DOS 27.0 KB
  • rbs.ini → A:\_DAT configuración 3.0 KB
  • rbshp2.bat → A:\SOFT programa de DOS 1.4 KB

No need to put rbshp2.mac, rbs.txt: they are manuals, source code or supporting material. Read them here and save 6.8 KB on a 1 MB disk.

Steps
  1. Copy rbs.exe, rbshp2.bat to A:\SOFT. They are DOS programs: run them from the DOS icon, or add A:\SOFT to the PATH in C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT to call them by name.
  2. Copy rbs.ini to A:\_DAT, where the 200LX looks for configuration. Open it with Memo and adjust it before use.
  3. If you edit a configuration file on the palmtop, make sure you leave a newline at the end: some programs swallow the last line without saying a word.

Derived from the package contents and the 200LX conventions. It installs to A: on purpose: C: is a RAM disk and every byte there is memory taken from the system.

The author's instructions
Upon receipt, install these in the directory of your choice (possibly even
the same directory as RBS), and specify the required details regarding
each in the rbs.ini file.

Due to the fact that the RBS program uses specific arguments passed to each
of the Zip and Grep utilities, it is not recommended to use any other
versions that those I've specified (ie. PKZip, etc.).

Command Line Options

For a summary of command line options, execute rbs.exe as follows:
"rbs.exe /?". For comprehensive help, do "rbs.exe /??".

Environment variables

RBS refers to the following environment variables:

COMSPEC : The full path of command.com. If this variable does not
            exist, RBS WILL NOT RUN.

This variable should already be set by default, more than likely to something like "COMMAND.COM". Note: I have not validated this program with any other DOS
command intrepreter other than MicroSoft's. Those individuals may want to
proceed with caution if using others such as 4DOS, etc. This program relies
on MicroSoft's 'dir' command parameters to achieve the desired filename
results, and may not be compatable with other command processors.

RBSINI: The full path of the rbs.ini file. This variable is optional.

If this variable is specified, the program will use this rbs.ini file and
error if not found. Otherwise, the program will attempt to use the rbs.ini
file in the current directory. Note that a command line specification of
which .ini file to use via the -i argument overrides these methods.

Send to my palmtop

The palmtop must be waiting before you press the button, or the transfer will fail. It is the palmtop that announces it is ready, not the other way round.
