Description

PRC2TXT.COM PalmPilot web-sites such as www.memoware.com and The Lending Library at www.macduff.net/ebooks/orgl-wrk.htm have a large number of files stored in compressed format. The extension is usually called .PRC or .PDB. The enclosed 400 byte program PRC2TXT.COM have managed to decompress all the text files I have met so far (note that the extension does not tell the file type; some PRC or PDB files are programs and others are in a database format). Usage: prc2txt fname.prc > fname The program has not had the benefit of being used for a long time ("soaktested").

Description extracted automatically from the documentation inside the package: this entry was not in the original catalogue.

How to install it

What to send to the palmtop saves 8.9 KB

These are the files you need. You can send them from the package contents below.

  • pilot2VR.bat → A:\SOFT programa de DOS 127 B
  • PRC2TXT.COM → A:\SOFT programa de DOS 410 B
  • TXT2VR.COM → A:\SOFT programa de DOS 346 B

No need to put PRC2TXT.TXT, Readme.txt, SMXN0814.VFN, Txt2vr.txt: they are manuals, source code or supporting material. Read them here and save 8.9 KB on a 1 MB disk.

Steps
  1. Copy pilot2VR.bat, PRC2TXT.COM, TXT2VR.COM to A:\SOFT. They are DOS programs: run them from the DOS icon, or add A:\SOFT to the PATH in C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT to call them by name.

Derived from the package contents and the 200LX conventions. It installs to A: on purpose: C: is a RAM disk and every byte there is memory taken from the system.

It also needs 1

The manual mentions these files, which are in the archive:

Send to my palmtop

The palmtop must be waiting before you press the button, or the transfer will fail. It is the palmtop that announces it is ready, not the other way round.
