How to install it

What to send to the palmtop saves 14.3 KB

These are the files you need. You can send them from the package contents below.

  • ICE100.COM → A:\SOFT programa de DOS 2.0 KB
  • ICE200.COM → A:\SOFT programa de DOS 2.2 KB
  • ICE.INI → A:\_DAT configuración 452 B
  • ICEWIN.INI → A:\_DAT configuración 480 B

No need to put ICE.DOC, SOURCE.ZIP: they are manuals, source code or supporting material. Read them here and save 14.3 KB on a 1 MB disk.

Steps
  1. Copy ICE100.COM, ICE200.COM to A:\SOFT. They are DOS programs: run them from the DOS icon, or add A:\SOFT to the PATH in C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT to call them by name.
  2. Copy ICE.INI, ICEWIN.INI to A:\_DAT, where the 200LX looks for configuration. Open it with Memo and adjust it before use.
  3. If you edit a configuration file on the palmtop, make sure you leave a newline at the end: some programs swallow the last line without saying a word.

Derived from the package contents and the 200LX conventions. It installs to A: on purpose: C: is a RAM disk and every byte there is memory taken from the system.

The manual mentions these files, which are in the archive:

The author's instructions
SETUP Setup available available
  STOPWATCH StopWatch available available
  QUICKEN PocketQuicken ---- available
  WORLDTIME WorldTime available available

After you have created your ICE.INI file, you should edit the
AUTOEXEC.BAT file as follows. You should load/unload ICE
  before/after the '100' command.

     ice200 -fa:\bin\ice.ini or ice100 -fa:\bin\ice.ini
     100
     ice200 -r or ice100 -r

Note: This example assumes that ICE.INI is created in
           A:\BIN\ directory.

Then press [CTRL]+[ALT]+[DEL] to reset the system. You will
see the new icons replaces the original one for the built-in
  applications.

Send to my palmtop

The palmtop must be waiting before you press the button, or the transfer will fail. It is the palmtop that announces it is ready, not the other way round.
