How to install it

What to send to the palmtop saves 19.2 KB

These are the files you need. You can send them from the package contents below.

  • ICN.ICN → A:\SOFT icono, junto a su aplicación 200 B
  • DRAW-LX.ICN → A:\SOFT icono, junto a su aplicación 200 B
  • DRAW-LX.EXE → A:\SOFT programa de DOS 32.3 KB

No need to put DRAW-LX.HLP, DRAW-LX.R, FILE_ID.DIZ, WHAT'S.NEW: they are manuals, source code or supporting material. Read them here and save 19.2 KB on a 1 MB disk.

Steps
  1. Copy DRAW-LX.EXE to A:\SOFT. They are DOS programs: run them from the DOS icon, or add A:\SOFT to the PATH in C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT to call them by name.
  2. The .ICN files are icons: they go in the same folder as their application.

Derived from the package contents and the 200LX conventions. It installs to A: on purpose: C: is a RAM disk and every byte there is memory taken from the system.

information on Code Pages is in the 200LX User's Guide in
chapter 21 and appendices C and D

In Text mode the Backspace and Delete keys clear to the back-
ground color. This can be used to create small "banners" of
reverse text. Select "W"hite color before entering Text mode.

MISCELLANEOUS:

This version of DRAW-LX.EXE was linked using the EXEPACK
option to reduce the file size. This has not caused any
problems and reduces the executable's size from 63 kb to 25 kb.

This help file has been formatted so that it should be
possible to read it on the 200LX in a zoomed screen mode.

Thanks go to Etienne Lemaire and Daniel Hertrich for
providing the impetus to make DRAW-LX a useful program and
debugging the code. They both requested features, found errors,
and recommended changes to the program.

Etienne found a real use for both XOR and Zebra fill. I did
not think either had much use. His note suggested the following
tests.

-- Another by product of XOR: you can draw some painted
triangles (and combinations) fairly easily: In rectangle mode,
XOR, draw a square with the 9 key, paint with Z. Still in XOR,
reverse steps with the 1 key -but one step less (or more).
Paint with Z. Plenty of combinations possible: try rectangles
of different sizes, vary the number of steps more or less:
embedded triangles etc.. Not sure it's very useful. (G). With
rectangles, not squares, end result takes more practice to be
predictable.

Other such additions to DRAW-LX are the status line and
testing the change to the code to conserve power.
