How to install it

What to send to the palmtop saves 11.7 KB

These are the files you need. You can send them from the package contents below.

  • DBCSETUP.GDB → A:\DATOS fichero de datos 2.2 KB
  • BANK.GDB → A:\DATOS fichero de datos 2.0 KB
  • ROUTE.GDB → A:\DATOS fichero de datos 1.3 KB
  • DBC.ICN → A:\SOFT icono, junto a su aplicación 200 B
  • DBC.EXE → A:\SOFT programa de DOS 35.5 KB

No need to put DBC.DOC: they are manuals, source code or supporting material. Read them here and save 11.7 KB on a 1 MB disk.

Steps
  1. Copy DBC.EXE to A:\SOFT. They are DOS programs: run them from the DOS icon, or add A:\SOFT to the PATH in C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT to call them by name.
  2. The .ICN files are icons: they go in the same folder as their application.
  3. Data files are opened from their own application, not installed separately.

Derived from the package contents and the 200LX conventions. It installs to A: on purpose: C: is a RAM disk and every byte there is memory taken from the system.

The author's instructions
2. Installation:

This ZIP archive contains the following files:

   DBC.DOC: This documentation file.
   DBC.EXE: DBCalc executable.
   DBC.ICN: DBCalc icon.
DBCSETUP.GDB: DBCalc configuration (setup database) file.

   BANK.GDB: Finance management sample database.
   ROUTE.GDB: Mileage tracking sample database.

To begin, copy these 6 files into a directory of its own. The
only files you really need are DBC.EXE and DBCSETUP.GDB. Both
files MUST reside in the same directory. Later on, you may
delete BANK.GDB and ROUTE.GDB once you are familiarized
with DBCalc. The DBC.ICN file is an icon that is provided
if you install DBCalc as a system manager application.

To install DBCalc as an application in the System Manager,
add the '|' character at the end of the filename so that
System Manager launches it with the maximum possible memory.
For example, if DBC.EXE resides in A:\DBC, you should
enter the following line:

 a:\dbc\dbc.exe| < notice the '|' character!

You can use DBCalc from both Application manager and DOS.

Literal excerpt from DBC.DOC, exactly as it came in the package.

Send to my palmtop

The palmtop must be waiting before you press the button, or the transfer will fail. It is the palmtop that announces it is ready, not the other way round.
