! IMPORTANT !
-------------

If you are installing a NEW RELEASE of PNR you must follow these steps:
                                               -----------------------

  1. Remove PNR from the application manager (move to its icon and press F4)
  2. Re-install PNR.EXM into the application manager as per normal (press F2)

If those steps are not followed, PNR will crash your palmtop when executed (if
it does just press Ctrl-Alt-Del then once back into the application manager
follow those two steps above!).

Instructions
------------

PNR is a FREEWARE offline news reader for HPx00LX palmtops:

        o System Manager compliant.
o It won't work on HP-95LX's as far as I know.
o YOU NOW NO LONGER NEED A SHELL ACCOUNT. IF YOU HAVE A SLIP/PPP
CONNECTION ONLY AND WINDOWS-95 THEN YOU CAN USE UQWK FOR WINDOWS-95.
o If you don't have Windows-95 but do have a shell account then
preferrably you need UQWK installed on your host (UNIX) system.
Your service provider may have already installed this program. If
not, and you cannot install it yourself then there are other ways of
getting your news & mail. See the documentation.

For full instructions read the MEMO file PNR.DOC. There is also a FAQ
(Frequently Asked Questions) file provided called PNRFAQ.TXT.

For quick installation edit the file PNR.CFG, move it to C:\_DAT, and install
PNR.EXM (not PNR.EXE) as per normal. Then read the instructions on how to
get & thread your news and mail.

PNR Version 1.2
---------------

[ Note that Version 1.1 was a beta release, in various forms, e.g. 1.1B3,
and so was never released officially as a finished version. Version 1.2
is just the final release. There are no notable difference between the
final beta of 1.1 and version 1.2 ]

o PNR Version 1.0 used PAL V1.1, whereas PNR Version 1.1 used PAL V1.6. This
means the interface is slightly different, especially in dialog boxes and
questin boxes (you can press 'Y' for yes, etc.)
o You can press Fn+Copy when viewing any message to copy it to the
clipboard (it will copy as much as will fit, starting from the beginning
of the message) - you could then paste it into the database, memo, etc.
o Instructions on how to use the Windows-95 version of UQWK. This means if
you only have a SLIP/PPP connection (no shell account) and Windows-95 then
  you can still use PNR
o New ROT-13 filter program
o New SOUP2ZIP conversion program. Using this it is possible to use the
Windows-95 UQWK program (which only produces SOUP format files)
o New SUMSORT program will sort summary file's produced by UQWK
o Two shell scripts (SENDME and GIVEME) and a batch file (UNZIP.BAT) provided
as examples on how to send & receive news & mail from a UNIX host and thread
  it on your palmtop
o Example batch file (GIVEME.BAT) provided as an example on how to receive
your news & mail using Windows-95 and UQWK for Windows-95
o Updated documentation
o External files CANNOT be imported anymore using PNR.EXM. This was removed to
reduce the executable size of the program. PNR must be less than 64K in size.
But note that PNR.EXE can import files.
o "Import" at title screen bug fixed
o In version 1.0 the demo PNR.CFG file said 'g_scancodes' when it should
  be 'scancodes'
o "Are you sure?" message when sending mail/posting question removed
o Various messages changed (to reduce executable size, that's how desperate
  I am)
o Improved icons!

PNRTI Version 1.01
------------------

o Bug fix made so that it can tell when .NWS and .MAI files are actually
  empty (zero length files).

SUMSORT Version 1.0
-------------------

o First release. Sorts summary files produced by UQWK so that you can
  selectively retrieve news threads.

ROT-13 Version 1.0
------------------

o First release. Encyphers/decyphers rot-13 encoded files. It is news & mail
aware so headers do not get encyphered/decyphered.

SOUP2ZIP Version 1.0
--------------------

o First release. Converts SOUP format news and mail files into ZipNews format
  files (which PNRTI understands).
